Bit of a long shot I know, but does anyone have or know where I could get one?

The one on my GT2 is AWOL! Popped into OPC Cardiff to order this and a few other bits and bobs but when the item was selected from the graphic, it appears that Porsche have discontinued the part with no replacement available frown

Cheers.

Have a look on Porsche's website for the 996 parts catalogue and see if there are different ones listed or not but AFAIK it's the same as all other 996's and 986 Boxsters, which are about £5+VAT from Porsche.

Might be worth ordering the standard 996 part anyway.

I was looking at the computer screen with the parts guy and there was just nothing showing when the item was selected. No alternative part number etc.

I thought the GT2 bumper cover looked marginally more flat than standard 996 - maybe?

I'll go double check the Porsche site.

Design 911? I got an OEM replacement one from there for my 996 GT3 when I dropped and cracked the original one.

Found it on the Porsche site. Same part that they clicked on at the OPC. I'll call them tomorrow just to double check (with part number).

Is it the same part number as a 996 turbo or car fitted with aero kit? Might be worth checking.

For what it's worth I have the original one on my car and it doesn't sit that flush to the shape of the bumper so you may get away with a turbo part anyhow.

But why would you want a plinth? Just sticking the plate on with some 3M VHB tape looks discernibly better...

Not to me it doesn't. The plinth may not be perfect but the current method (which is as you suggest), looks awful on this particular shape of cover.

Edit....if the PU was perfect (without holes), a stick on plate higher up the cover may look good - where it goes closer to horizontal.

How did you get on? Did you end up buying the turbo plinth?

Not sure yet! Ordered a handful of items from OPC which I should be collecting tomorrow. Not received any feedback on whether they were able to obtain the correct plinth yet. I'm not altogether sure the parts aren't actually the same anyway? smile

Was going to go back to OEM silver finish on the wheels and get a set of "GT2" centre caps. Think they're about £30 each from OPC, are there any alternative sources?

Without plinth works well on 997's but not 996's IMO.

I think the wheels look OK grey, but what your car does need is some of this on the tailpipes wink

Well the "without plinth" option certainly doesn't work for me. I know the 996 plinth isn't the best but definitely better than nothing.

I'm not a chrome polisher. Quite like the tips sooty smile

Picked some bits and pieces up this morning, one of which was the plinth. Was a wopping £6.73 plus vat. Noticed that Jasmine are selling them on Ebay for £33!

To be honest I have no idea if it's the Turbo plinth, the GT2 plinth or whether they are all the same? It fits though smile
