I am seriously contemplating buying a nearly new 991 C2S but was wondering what it would be like to live with the kids in the back etc and in a real world on a daily drive to work. My local dealer is in Hatfield, Herts and I was thinking of popping in to request a test drive on a 991 but before I did this I wondered what the score is on test driving these cars? Don't want to look like an idiot requesting a 24-48 hour test drive if this is something that they don't usually do. Thanks

Yes, its possible to get a 991 for a few days from an OPC (I had a C4 for four days) - but I suspect you would have to have a good relationship with them already.

In my experience it varies between OPCs.

My nearest was happy to arrange for me to borrow one "for an afternoon" and I was to let them know when was convenient, which I did, and I never heard back from them.

The next OPC let me have one for a 24hr or so loan, no problem and no prior relationship. Got to know it, lived with it, did the daily stuff in it, saw what it looked like on the drive, dropped it back off then placed an order...

Hatfield rang me without any potential interest shown by me and gave me a 991S for 24 hours.

I didn't even own a Porsche at the time, but they had me on their database from previous servicing work on a 996 I had owned.

So shouldn't be any problem for a serious potential purchaser.
