Completed just over 200 miles.

Engine
The 991GT3 now has an Oil warm up light until temps hit 52d. The new engine, and that's what it feels like a complete new unit has a lot more usable torque across the rev range, think 997RS,3.6 to say the torque found in a 4.0. It has new sharper rasp to the engine note. It pulls like train from very low revs now, The F1 sound engine note is still there at the top of the range, but now comes in sooner.

PDK
SW upgrades now mean that box is even smarter, ie at 70 in 7G, just blip the throttle and it zings down to 3rd, bang right into the max torque range, through the gears in even normal mode the acceleration feels now even faster, sharper.

Rear Wheel Steer
Again SW upgrades have resulted in even shaper turn in, the car changes direction like a wasp...

Will be interesting to see how these changes feel on track. It wont be long imv before any problem's are long in a past mind set.

This is Porsche at what they do best , at the very top of there game.

IMHO

great to get the car back :-)

but not possible to notice those upgrades imo on a car with so little man hours behind the wheel in the 1st place and the big rest between driving it last time.

I always think my Spyders faster than it was last time, as I drive it so little :-)

happy people are getting cars again though.

As for not being long in people minds, some people are NOT getting cars till OCT

I had a lot of time in my RHD and LHD, before the recall including 4 track days, don't forget I have been driving 911s for 35 years....along with I know the road well around my test route , ie the need to change gear at certain points...rev ranges etc....

This is all great news. Can't wait to get my car now. I'm more excited than a puppy with two willys! I've just bought an e30 m3 to tide me over.

Can't believe I have to wait til July for mine.
I think the torque benefit is a big deal for road driving as max revs are never used for a long time on the road - you just end up running out of road.
Did the car feel just as stable with wasp like steering?

When I got my firs GT3, a 996, I do remember driving up park lane late at night wondering why there were so many cars on my private race track.

Thanks Apolo, great review.

I'm getting mine back tomorrow and couldn't be more excited.

I'll put some miles on over the weekend and add some thoughts of my own.

Hi
interesting to see what you think. Using the 80lbs increase on the 650 as a reference, this feels more than that, It just wants to run away at very slight throttle angle. As soon as you are on it you just have to back off.....never like that before....

imv, no more BHP, but more torques?

Hi Apolo
I get mine back next Wednesday can't wait. I didn't know there were any upgrades with the new engine, box etc. can you enlighten me more?

Also does anyone know if my car will pass a db check of 100db static or 94db drive by? Hoping to do Castle Combe in June.
