Help! 993 Audio headunit Required without flashy lights!
Discussion
Hi all, i know this has been discussed before but most of the threads are out of date.... im about to collect a 993 C2 Coupe (1996) and i need a headunit for it.
I need a unit that will connect to a iPhone5s (for music) and have a radio funtion. Im not looking for a major system build here, just a good quailty unit that doesnt look like a xmas tree and goes with the 993 interior.
The perfect option would be a becker unit, but having searched the web, i cant find one.
Any help/advise would be grafully recived.
thanks for your help.

Becker is the only option IMHO. The porsche classic unit does not look right in a 993 and there are fitment problems with them.
Search german ebay as they are all multilingual or a guy called rob mars on ebay usually has a stock of them. They are more expensive but always retain their value so work out a lot "cheaper" than buying any other unit which will be worth nothing in 12 months.
Ps if you get the cascade model you can run the latest BMW maps with fixed speed trap warnings ;-)

I've got one of these available - option code M320
I've not tested it yet as a I managed to source a cdr21 pretty much straight after I bought this however I've no reason to doubt its not functional, I don't have any tapes though! I'll obviously test power/radio/display functionality
Not sure about the iPhone5 connectivity however - it may work via a connector from headphone socket to cd cartridge connection.
Slight wear on LHS adjustment button as shown
Nearest offer to £150 would take it (pending it testing ok)

Someone told me they stopped making them, but worth a punt for the money.
Loads of cheap period Blaupunkts on eBay but won't have good iPod integration. See below:

My Bremen gave uo the ghost a couple of years ago, but I must admit it played my IPOD fine with a cassette to headphone socket cable I bought form Halfords for less than £15.00 before going kaput. It was flimsy, but did a 2.5K holiday no problem. The only downside is, it wont charge the IPOD. Great bit of kit.Someone told me they stopped making them, but worth a punt for the money.

Go for a becker, keep your eyes peeled everywhere, there are reasonably priced units out there for example this one (excuse looooong address) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Becker-Grand-Prix-7995-C...
I paid £200 odd notes for my Becker Grand Prix a couple of years ago.
Alternatively ask the great and good here, recently I've managed to get help with a steering wheel (thank you Simon) and headunit (thank you Steve, see you Tuesday) for an older car both original and a fair price.

Try and get something with an AUX out connection and then get a Solisto box and cable for your iPhone.
I have one on my CDR-21 - even fitted it myself - and I can play music from my iPhone and charge it also.
The hardest thing was getting the headunit out which needed some vigour and once I'd got it out I found that due to the complete lack of slack on the aerial cable and my over ambitious use of force - I'd broken the aerial connecter so had to get the soldering iron out to fix that too.

Got one of these for my 993, wasn't expensive and looks a lot better than most of the alternatives out there.
