These cars are truly amazing, not to be confused with lesser models,
the man is right, and as an owner of this identical car they swat 911s
and are the best model of all the 928s, even better than the GTS

Genuine question - what is it about the 928 GT that makes you rate it a better car than the 928 GTS?the man is right, and as an owner of this identical car they swat 911s

Followed a red GT through Gloucester' s ring road this week - lovely but not sure about the 911 swatting monica mind you
With a 928 registration? That might have been the one I saw at Caring with Cars last weekend. I had a long chat with the owner, he's had it for around 12 years and it looked to be in great shape. A really nice clean car. Most GTS models are auto, infact I think about 20% were manuals, all Gt cars
are manuals. Plus the extra weight on the gts make it not as dainty, and
its a lot dearer to maintain. That said a manual GTS is the ultimate, but
with prices heading past 25 to 30k for a manual GTS its not worth the premium,
and you wont find one anyway.
The 928 GT will have any n/a 911 model right up to the introduction of the
3.6 engine in 2001, which has a slight performance edge only down to weight.
My car dynod at 356 bhp despite having a bench test figure of
330, so 231, 250, 272 and 286 and 300 bhp incarnations 911s don't cut it
against the Mighty GT, I have owned several of them all. Buts its not
all about the power, it the harnessing and delivery of it, probably the best
GT car Porsche ever made, massively over engineered

Unfortunately most GTSs came with engines that drink 1 litre of oil every 600-2000 miles depending on how unlucky you are. Porsche did have a factory fix involving some kind of sleeved liners but most GTSs out there don't have this fix. There are some mods that can be done to reduce or even eliminate oil consumption but it's a flaw with the GTS no question. Having said that I would take a GTS manual over a GT. The extra grunt in the 5.4 (which mainly reveals itself as torque rather than power, until you drop some cams in it) and those beautiful hips do it for me.

Can't agree with swatting. Actually a 3.2 911 and a GT have nigh on identical 1/4 mile times, but the 928 starts to ease away above 100.the man is right, and as an owner of this identical car they swat 911s

I had a 3.2 and a GTS and there was nothing in it over a quarter - bit calmer in the GTS though.
On the twisty stuff most 911s will leave a 928 thanks to the 200kg + weight advantage and smaller size. But on a fast flowing A road the 928 would my choice.

Faced with a European trip and the variables that throws at you, you glanceI had a 3.2 and a GTS and there was nothing in it over a quarter - bit calmer in the GTS though.

outside to 4 mint Porsches. An 89 3.2 Sport Coupe, a 93 Carrera 2 964 Coupe,
a 96 993 C2 Coupe, and the Mighty GT. Anyone who knows anything about driving
knows that GT/GTS is the ultimate touring car, present this question to any
professional driver/racing driver and you will get the same answer.
Lets have a game of trying to think of any other realistic Porsche
models excluding the Panamera that will tour with more ease? And
I am not talking of high end turbo cars up in the stratosphere.

Agree with that. Did 20k in my GTS in 14 months and, other than the thirst, was a superbly relaxing car to drive. outside to 4 mint Porsches. An 89 3.2 Sport Coupe, a 93 Carrera 2 964 Coupe,
