Neither.

Get something that is distinctive, interesting, exists, and is likely to be in your possession to use: Maserati Gransport or Noble M400.

Would agree that the 997s is a tad dull, but a hugely capable car. However, the Sagaris could never be said to be lacking in distinction, interest or existance.

I'll give you the distinction and interest, but I'll believe the existance when we finally get to see a customer car.

Matter of time.

On the assumption that both were availble at the time of purchase (immediately), which then ?

If depreciation didn't worry me, my choice would be the TVR but in the real world assuming it's my money it would have to be the 997.

Easy 997s,definately wouldn't touch a new TVR until the Russian guy has decided what hes doing with the company.

Definitely not the Sagaris. I can think of better ways to throw away cash than on the residual value of the motoring equivalent of a gargoyle

997S

Of course

Sagaris far too Max Power for me. TVR have made some extraordinarily beautiful cars over the years. The Saggyarse is not one of them.

Now if you said T400R - Tuscan R thing whatever - then that'd be competition. Very interesting.

If its an only car, 997 every time.

If its a weekend only/fun car...still probably the 997 but I do also quite like the idea of a Noble.

Wouldn't touch a new TVR at the moment unless I win the lottery and its a 5th or 6th car...

Cheap 996c2(£30k) and a T350(£30k) and rest on trackdays for me thanks. Best of both worlds.

If you want pure fun and performance the Sagaris is in another league.. and will definitely turn more heads than the 997 thats for sure! but if you want a daily car, go for the 997 and spend another 20k on top... it's that simple...

For 997S money you could be in a 996 turbo.

somehow I get the idea that on teh Porsche forum most ppl will say 997s and on a TVR forum most ppl will say sagaris.

Personaly I would have the 997s. But perhaps if the car was just for a toy on the weekends maybe the sagaris.

hope this post has helped

The problem with TVR in the past is that they use their customers and dealers for their R and D. Having owned a Tuscan for 9 month, (bought brand new), I alway noticed the same Tuscans, (quite a number),also back at the dealership that I regularly visited when collecting my car because it had broken down, (7 times in 9 month!!). I haven't time to list all the small and not so small faults that also regularly occurred in between breakdowns.

If you would like a car that is properly engineered, just as fun, faster, (in the real world not what you read in magazines), then a porsche is you best bet....it is easy to get seduced with buying something British and TVRs do look exciting and sound great but their not much chop if you have to live with one or want to drive fast. Try driving a TVR fast on a greasy road and you will know what I mean.

Had my GT3 three years and done 53,000 mile all over Europe. Apart from two clutches and a snapped bonnet cable not one thing has gone wrong. Not even a sqeak or rattle!! How many TVR's could do this mileage without problems??

Nick644 (ot) but how have you got on with your GT3? I would be interested to hear your views, from the start of when you got it to now.
