Third party warranties

I'm looking at getting a boxster or 996 and I have a worry about , rms, ims and bore scoring. So I thought I might get a extended warranty.

I was wondering if anybody has any experience with warranty direct, warrantywise etc when it comes to porsches.

I've used warranty direct before on a couple if cars and they seems alright.

Don't think they will cover those sort of problems, I would talk to Hartec before buying.

I spoke to warrantywise or direct, can't remember which one, before I bought my last 996, specifically whether bore scoring was covered.

The guy I spoke to confirmed it was, so I asked him to confirm that in writing. I got an email confirming bore scoring was covered providing it was caused by sudden or catastrophic loss, or words to that effect.

When I queried this and said bore scoring wouldn't be 'sudden' but gradual he then backtracked and said it wasn't covered!

I would be very careful with these types of warranties personally.

The general feeling on here is that they will not cover you for the issues you have mentioned.

Far better to speak with Hartech and get one of their maintenance plans.

You get what you pay for, both on the purchase and the warranty.

I looked into them before buying my first porsche. There's quite a few threads on it (I'll see if I can find some links).

In the end, I went with Hartech and didn't regret it.

Problem with hartech is they are so far from me

I was twice as far from them as you are!

For me at least, it was fine to make the trip once a year (make sure you've got National breakdown recovery). The only real downside was if something small went wrong, it would have to wait until the next scheduled visit.
