i'm half way tp securing a 997 Gen 1. I currently have a Cayman Gen 2 2.9L and interested in other peoples thought who made this type of change. what are the pro's & con's.

oh yes, the car has no Aux-In, is this a easy thing to install ?

thanks everyone

I would keep what you have and save a bit more money towards a gen 2 997.

cannot think of any pros to going for a gen 1 997...

depending on what you want from the car may not really be an upgrade, gen 2 cayman 2.9 could be better car for spirited driving on UK roads and also probably cheaper to run

i love the way the cayman handles but fancy a bit more grunt and the rear "seats" could be handy

I would not do that, big mistake.

The car you have is one of the best drivers cars. If you don't need the seats, stick with the 2.9, great engine.

older PCM, engine with a few design issues, a engine in the back :-p, more to TAX, less mpg.
Bit more dated inside.

gen 2 Cayman2.9 is a very nice car. So cannot see why one would want a 997.1 with the car you all ready have.

997.1 great value cars if you find a nice one for 20k but not one I would swap yours for, Gen two start from about 35k

Go for it - Cayman is great but 997.1 is just 'more'... of an event, more interaction, , more character, more challenging, more fun.

The difference in straight line performance is pretty significant too.
