Have a read through this thread and when you stop salivating, get in your car and go.

AppleCross
It looks great but is very narrow, riddled with pot holes and strewn with livestock. Go for the view not so much the driving experience. AnthonyR said:
Thanks, have found it now.
We were going to cross that part on the N260, is this road worth the detour?
I am also worried that the N260 might be quite busy.
Its worth a visit if your near, though much better than the N260 I doubt. Its a great road and we use it because we base ourselves in Vielha. We were going to cross that part on the N260, is this road worth the detour?

N260 like most of the Pyrenees I've found on the Spanish side at least is only really busy in late July and all of August. Levels of traffic is minimal compared to Blighty, its always depressing when I arrive home.

This ^^The pass was not a good road for my GT3 (kept scuffing the brake ducts) but the views are unbelievable and the roads to and from Applecross are epic!

I bet, you driven in Spain before? What you driving/riding?
Done lots of continental trips before but never to the Pyrenees.I have got a 987 Boxster S and also have a Noble GTO 3R, 964 RS, RS4 and Z4M in our group.
Getting the ferry to Bilbao then down through the Pyrenees and back up the middle of France

I did it 2 years ago in an Aventador. If you are going to Bilbao try the Picos mountains. Not far out of your way and some great (and quiet!) roads. Minimal traffic as unlike the Pyrenees they are not on a main route to anywhere. 2 years ago they were building a motorway parallel to the N260 so if finished that would take a lot of traffic off the latter.I have got a 987 Boxster S and also have a Noble GTO 3R, 964 RS, RS4 and Z4M in our group.
