I'm hoping someone can help me out with getting Sotify to work with my PCM 3.

I have an HTC One M8 and Spotify premium and connected it to the car with a USB cable. I selected USB as the source and selected a track from a Spotify playlist - I did get music playing, but from an MP3 on the phone not from Spotify.

So, is it possible and how to do it?

Thanks in advance

It's a Cayman R. How do I check which version I have? I did have the map updates done recently so am assuming it has the latest software

You won't be able to play Spotify over the USB — try bluetooth.

My 2010 Cayman doesn't allow bluetooth audio streaming — so I have a bluetooth receiver plugged in to the USB and connected to the Aux In.

I used Spotify (iPhone) on my 987.2 and continue to use on my current 981.

On both cars I always load the Spotify app first, and sometimes its worth starting the song/playlist, as occasionally if I have been listening to music/podcast via another app and switch to Spotify, the music will still continue to play from the previous app via PCM, even if Spotify is the foreground app.

I think Spotify changed their app since last year as I used to see a list of songs (playlist) on the PCM display, now I only see current song info.

Cheers, I'll give that a go

Hi redback911,

What year 987.2 and what interface were you using? USB or iPod?

Hi jcarruthers,

The car was 2010 and I the USB<-->iPOD/iPhone cable plugged in at center console.

So a standard iPhone cable in to the USB — not the Porsche iPhone cable with the odd DIN connector?

Perhaps I have an issue as I have to use a Lightning adapter

I didn't know this was possible. I just tried my iPhone5 and Spotify premium and it streams to bluetooth no problem. I did notice that you can not have the phone connected to the glovebox USB port with a cable though so to charge I have a ciggie lighter UISB adapter in the arm rest.

Works a charm but can't skip tracks using the colum stalk.

It's a 2014 Cayman

Well I tried all sorts of ways of connecting with the USB cable and couldn't get anything to work. I did get sound coming out using the aux cable but it was very quiet and also the sound stopped after about 3 tracks although it was still playing on the phone. Bloody thing!
