Which specialist?

I've found two specialists who will take on a rebuild of my gearbox, 996 C2 Getrag, both offer the same service and prices are not far from each other. I don't know which one to go with, have any had experience of either Parr in Crawley or SVP in Droitwich?

I haven't used either but SVP have a very good reputation.

No idea, but I'd use Sports & Classic in Knutsford. Mike's been doing these boxes for years, worked out some internal modifications to fix certain issues and/or prevent them, 100% success. Mine was done about 3.5 years ago, 1998 996 C2 and drives just as well now as when it was first done (25,000 miles later).

He's local to me, so it's not unusual that I pop in there, often seeing gearboxes arrive on pallets - it would surprise you how many UK-wide Porsche specialists send him 996/7 and Boxster S gearboxes for rebuild. He's even had one sent from Dubai I think. They all obviously want the job doing right, first time, and are happy to keep sending him the work.
