GAP Via Car2cover £349.

I'm going, for peace of mind for all three.

Am I mad?

Have you checked an independent insurance provider like car2cover? Usually much cheaper but not sure how the claim limits compare with what you have been offered?

I did the tyre thing once and got most of the money back on a rear puncture. I got it free as part of the deal. Not sure I'd pay much for it.

I wouldn't want them refurbishing a single wheel or smart repairing my car. And I can spell kerb.

With the best will in the world we have all kerb wheels and it does cover for this and punctured tyre replacement . 5 wheels and tyre limit over 3 years! Seems a no brainier to me? And yes my wife will drive the car.

All paint repairs are done at a Porsche Approved body shop, is this really an issue re the quality of work?

Are you sure? I have seen the smart repairs being done by a Chips Away bloke in a tent in the car park of an OPC. And it is standard practice across the network.

Porsche approved body shops also get smart repair chaps in to do work.

They are only quoting up to 3 years cover and £25k car2cover quoted 4 years cover and £50k albeit £100 odd more expensive.

All good in my book. 80% of smart policies have claims, so make sure you DO make a claim before the policy ends, GAP is always a good idea, a car depreciates most in the initial 3 or 4 years of it's life, your insurance only pays out the market value of your car at the time of the claim. Tyre and alloy, it only takes one badly kerbed alloy to stack up. All of these are a good idea as long as you don't pay too much for them in the 1st place.
