Track day brakes...Other than Alcon, views / experience?

Currently using OEM Discs (steel GT3) with Pagid's, have tried Alcons in the past. Need to replace all discs and pads and before I re-order the same again, I was interested if anyone had good experience of any other manufacturer, someone mentioned Tarrox but I cant confirm that they do track discs and pads for my car.
Also for years now I have used Toyo 888's, anything new out there?
Car is only used on track.

Cup 2's, but there are now loads of tyres for track use.

both hi end and worth a look imo.

depending on size Brembo also do a nice disk , and what I would go for, think they fit your car.

I have used Performance Friction 2 piece discs and 01 pads for about the last 4 years. This is on an Evo 6RS, but is similar weight and power to a 997.2 GT3.

Tyre wise, I stick with 888's but this is for sprints and hill climbs. I'm led to believe that Yokohama 048's are better for track days due to not overheating as quickly as 888's.

A048 don't heat cycle well, I used to throw away A048 half worn as they go hard.

Cup 2s's are todays best track day tyre I would guess. ie fastest round a lap.

I run Dunlop Race MAxx and you have the new pirelli trofeo's which are fast, but don't wear that well.

R888 are about the slowest and make the most noise, but heat up well for sprints.

or as you say track only import some nitto's, its about time we could get them in the UK !!!

Hi Richard,

If it's for track only then you won't beat Alcons & slicks.. Alcons seem to be lasting longer than my Brembos. Cups are ok if you have to drive to the track, but they are not are hardy as slicks, cost a bomb and don't last long.... but handy for driving to the ring on etc.

Enjoyed the dice at Anglesey last week btw, don't think I've ever seen a 'stay back' board there before

Tried Alcon's before, had a problem with the discs and didnt get particularly good support so decided to try some PF Discs & pads this time.. Re slicks what size do you use as when I use them I end up replacing the inner arches as they rub like hell? Knowing me I probably have the wrong size... RE Anglesey Spent an hour removing what was left of your 'slicks' from the front of my car....

Sent a mail over to Nitto to get some pricing on their NT01, thanks for the replys guys!

Where do you get your slicks from? Tempted myself to get a spare set of alloys and some slicks for my 996 gt2

R888s are also quite heavy. I saw a weight comparison somewhere and they were by far the heaviest of the track tyres tested. Surprisingly, weight hardly ever gets a mention when tyres are under discussion.

They also have a habit of rotating on the rims - I always mark my tyres to check this.

I have Brembo Type III's on my RS with Brembo pads up front and Pagid RS19 at the rear. These replaced my PCCB's. To date they are excellent on the track, seem to be holding up pretty well but are noisy as hell on the road, given their floating configuration.
