Hardtops on 997

If memory serves a 996 cab can with a hardtop as standard?

Am I right in assuming it was a cost option on 997?

Does anyone with a 997 cab have the hardtop? Does it make the car quieter when fitted? Don't think I've ever seen a 997 cab with one on

I had a 997 turbo s cab with a hard top that I specced from new. It was a waste of time and space and was something like a £2k option as I remember. The car did feel a little bit stiffer with it on but it was such a faff to take on and off that it sat on a stand in the garage most of the time. Car was good enough with the soft top all year round.

Normal roof is so good and has hard panel over front seats I can't imagine ever wanting a hard top.
