Just thought I’d let you know about a fantastic event I’ve just been on in my 964C2
It was called Rally For Heroes and the aim was to raise money for SSAFA a charity that provides lifelong support for our Forces and their families.

We visited 11 countries European in 8 days, covering about 2,600 miles.

We were waved off by Vicki Butler Henderson from the Top Gear test track on Friday 27th and headed off to the first stop in Antwerp. After that it was Hannover in Germany, Prague, Salzburg then via the Grosslockner pass to Bolzano in Italy, over Stelvio to Zurich with a further day spent playing on the passes in Switzerland before heading to Luxembourg and back to the UK.
It was a great event, 50 fast cars blasting through Europe.

The Porsche was superb and a the only 911 on the event. The car has such a diverse range of talents, from 170mph blast along the autobahn to relaxed 120mph cruising or thrashing it up and down the mountain passes at a rate that made more modern machinery look a little pathetic!

The only issues were a failed brake light switch, I only realised when the cruise didn’t deactivate when I pressed the brake pedal and a failed front wheel bearing. The bearing was sorted out very efficiently by a Porsche main agent in Zurich (for £670!) and we were back on the road after a few hours. I only usually drive the car about 3,000 miles a year so nearly 3,000 in one week was good going!

We have raised over our target of £100,000 but if you would like to donate then you can via the following link.
