Well I thought this one would have been done to death by now, but I searched through the previous threads and found only one short discussion on this. So here goes [prepares to be shown thousands of threads]...

The warning light for the air bag in my 95 993 C2 has coem on.
What gives ? Any known obvious cause or is it a call and trip to OPC which I'd rather avoid (mind you the young lady on the front desk is something to marvell at !)

Cheers

Sounds like a trip to see the friendly "young lady" is in order. Have you had the airbags checked as part of a service recently? They're supposed to be checked every 4yrs and the garage should put a stamp in the service book to confirm that they have been checked.

Ooooh... the mention of air bags and the young lady on the desk together in one sentence [eyes crossed].

anyway yes I guess its a trip to the OPC.

didn't know about airbags and the service, and don't think I've any 'airbag stamps' on mine - will check.

When I bought my 1994 993 C2 , it had a warning light on for the airbag, and the nice Mr. Firman of '911 virgin' fame , got it sorted thru' Peter Tognola in Datchet. He had to get the 'code' for the airbag system from Porsche before fixing it. He was successful however, so you might not need to take it to a main dealer to get it fixed. Any good independants in the SW? Hope this helps...

I had a similar problem om mine - OPC reset it three times before applying a 'known but unofficial' fix which came in a Porsche bag - a resistor in the steering wheel area. Despite the car being in warranty, they wanted to charge me £120, but a politish call to Reading sorted it out...

cheers, Maurice
