As topic really, the tank on my 924S has started leaking and needs replacing (dreaded rust under the straps). I am looking at replacing it with a plastic tank from a 944 but need to know if it will fit - does anybody know for a fact?
Actually will any 924 or 944 tank fit my 924S?
All help much appreciated.

No idea, but I would imagine so. Why not just go to porsche apart and get a 924S one there?

It'll be just as cheap, and you'll know it will fit

Yes it will fit and is an excelent idea but it is hard work to fit. The last time we did one it tok around 15 hours work cost doing the following:

Remove exhaust, g'box & tank.
Cut out existing welded in gearbox mounting beam.
Weld captive nuts into the chassis legs for the later bolt-in mounting beam, repaint legs.
Weld later tank mounting plate onto sparewheel well.
Fit the plastic tank with all accociated pipework, filler, relocate fuel pump & revise wiring & fuel lines.
Fit later top mount onto existing gearbox, refit box.
Refit exhaust.

...or thereabouts. You need everything from a later 944, ideally remove the parts yourself so that you know where they go!
