993 at Auction ?

Just spotted this 993 C2 Tip going to auction later this month.

It looks cheap even for a Jap import with a less than complete history, but anyone considering it should read the following, so you are aware what you may be buying.

They may of course be two completely different vehicles, but worth doing some thorough due diligence.

Same car. I remember reading about it. The non varioram engine on a 97 car caused a bit of a stir. If I remember rightly, the seller was claiming that it had an engine change and an early non vari engine was fitted.

That's a bit optimistic price wise for what the seller themselves describe as only being average condition. I got less than that for my immaculate perfect history car!!! and it's a tip!! I think they need to take 10k off even then that's still a lot for a car with a suspect history!!

Funny how the paragraph from the auction site:

"AMENDMENT: Please note that there is some confusion regarding the chassis number of this vehicle. According to records held by Porsche GB the chassis number stated on this website and on the V5C actually relates to a 1997 Porsche 993 Carrera S in Glacier Blue. We have had the car examined by an independent engineer who states that the chassis number shown on the car (on a sticker inside the driver's door, on a plaque under the bottom left of the windscreen and on a metal tag under the fuel tank) all match the numbers stated on the website and on the V5C and do not appear to have been tampered with in any way."

Does not appear in the new advert! I would avoid. This car may look presentationally good in photos but too much risk for me.

Also interesting that the car was withdrawn from the auction after a footnote was added to the listing. Phil Raby link also no longer works, feel sorry for anyone who buys this car not knowing what they are buying into.

Im not sure its worth 20k and thats if we can be confident of tis exact history.

The old plod might turn up at your door to remove it if it is stolen! It happens.
