Polish for black porsche

Whats the best off the shelf polish one can buy say from Halfords for black cars? Any advice appreciated

Of course you can spend huge $$$$ on polish and wax. But I swear but this on both my black 911's.

Autoglym Super Resin - 3 or 4 applications
then
Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection

Autoglym also produce the ultra deep shine which is (supposedly) formulated for black cars. I've tried it, it is good but the Super Resin still wins. Worth noting the gloss protection bonds to the super resin to act as a sealant. That said, as Mr. D rightly says, the prep is also very important but if the bodywork / paint is in good condition to start with the above works very well for the price..

You won't get it in Halfords but Victoria Wax Councours works very well on black cars. Super easy to apply.

I've used Zymol on black and silver cars and they look fantastic. Wouldn't use anything else.

I use PoorBoys BlackHole.

Then use DodoJuice carnuba wax on top. Several coats.

I would say Autoglym HD is probably the best buy in Halfords, which is what the OP asked.

I to have used Poor Boys black holes in the past with good results but if you want something great try Swissvax product's (it can be top $$ though)

I wouldn't say Black Hole is significantly better than SRP, to be honest. It's good, but not amazing.

Black hole is used for 'filling' in defects;
being dark in colour certainly helps on black cars
SRP being white...doesn't
IMHO


Best way is machine polish out the defects first - then seal / wax etc

I've used all of these mentioned
in my opinion Black hole gives the best results for the least effort
top off with something like a nattys paste wax
all nice and cheap too

They're both high in fillers and quite good at masking minor imperfections in the clear coat. I didn't find BH significantly better, and it's a lot less easily available than SRP.
