997 insurance how much!!
Discussion
Sorry dull thread alert but I got my renewal through from DL for a whopping £750.
Did a new quote online and it came out at a more realistic £288, with £45 cashback from Quidco making total £243!!!
That seems very cheap, seem to remember it was £1400 3 years ago! I will be 35 when it kicks in. 9 years no claims, no points, live in nice quiet area with own driveway, 6000 miles annual but it still seems v cheap to be honest, considering the cost of any repair they must be pretty confident that I'm not going to have a prang! finger crossed!

Do be careful on the price comparison sites, I remember a very cheap quote from Elephant so I looked into it and you have to take your car to their approved repairer. Fine for a 9 year old Volvo, not so good for a treasured 911
Check that with Elephant. I used to insure with them. I queried it at the time as I had a GT3 with them. The explanation I got was that I was free to use any repair company, however I would have to get 3 quotes (all 3 could be Porsched approved) & they would not give me a courtesey car, if I was deemed at fault. If I used their approved repairer it would be a no questions asked courtesey car & no hassle for me to get quotes. mollytherocker said:
I usually go for the lowest 'known' company but I always use a £500 excess to keep the premium down as I figure that I wouldnt claim something under that value anyway!
Same here - maximum excess and cheapest well known firm. I'd really only want to claim as a matter of last resortRemarkable that people are in a position to buy/own a Porsche then scrimp on the insurance.
Cheap insurance is usually cheap for a reason. In the event of a claim expect to have to deal with a Timbuktu based call centre and don't expect your pride and joy to be going to a garage of your choice - it'll be the nearest local chop shop who specialise in cut and shuts.
