another n tyre query

just had my 996t serviced by a very well respected indy.

the pirelli n3 on front of my car need replacing, but the rears are fine

apparently pirelli n3 are not made anymore but bridgestone are

his advice is to go bridgestone front, pirelli rear, instead of pirelli n4 front n3 year?

i had thought using two different brands, even with the same n rating was a no no?

From what I've read you are better to go with same n rating vs same brand different n rating.

the n ratings of different brands are not done at the same time or mean the same thing. So the same N of different brands cannot be said to be better than different Ns of the same brand. I think it's just personal choice.

For me I would stick with the same brand.

Yep, for example brand A could be on iteration 6, i.e.N6, when another brand launches a new tyre which, as the first iteration of it, starts out as N0 but is of course a newer more advanced tyre than the much older brand A that's been tweaked a bit 5 times.

It sounds like the guy who gave you that (bad IMO) advice doesn't really understand how the system works. You'd be much better with the same tyre front and rear, but with an N number difference of 1, than with one axle on a completely different tyre altogether.
