If you can't speak about a bad experience even without naming names?

I thought it is ok as long as the party in question cannot be easily identified and you could then always get the name by direct contact?

I just think the line is being drawn somewhere re what is identifiable and what not - "one of the Porsche specialist in the South East (or even London)" is ok vs. "one of the Porsche specialist in [INSERT NAME OF SMALL TOWN OR SIMILAR"]or "the Specialist that advertises heavily in magazine xyz" probably not ok if there is only one that can be described as such.

Not sure if I am correct on this or not, just had the impression in the past that this is roughly how it works.

Unless you wish to write a large cheque to PH before posting the answer should be obvious.

I would have thought it's quite obvious why "name and shame" is a contentious issue.

Aside from the potential legal implications of falsely accusing someone, the Internet has more than it's fair share of Walter Mitty types.

Some posters live in a fantasy land and have their own agenda often based on nothing more than a sense of their own importance. They can usually be identified by experienced forum users , but they can still do an awful amount of damage. We have one amongst us right now.

There are also those with a grudge, that may not have got what they wanted from a deal/dealer and then go out of their way to exaggerate that particular dealers supposed shortcomings as a means of "revenge".

There are genuine mistakes. I recall a thread where a well respected Morgan Specialist was slated for missing several important faults for a customer inspection. The specialist then came on the forum, asked for details of the car and the OP had to admit he'd mixed up the specialist name.

Funny how you can go onto Tripadvisor and discuss your experience and even mention the Hotel and its totally acceptable.

I'm not suggesting naming and shaming should be allowed on here as its the rules of the PH's but sharing an experience is more than acceptable.

Funny did anyone see that rather odd post by Porscheboxman that was removed very quickly.
He'd created a login last night and made one post.
He got rumbled pretty quickly and made a right muppet of himself

As someone mentioned earlier we live in a litigious society and it's Haymarket that would be served any legal papers, understandably we don't want this which is why N&S rule is in place and has been for a long time. There are plenty of places on the internet available for you to name and shame, PH isn't one of those I'm afraid.

I take it that you mean me. Please can you elaborate? I really cannot see what I have done. I would happily pay respect and compliment to anyone person/dealer when it is deserved. I was accused in my thread of being someone else with multiple logins by Lauraotherhalf and even the guy called me David when my name is Ben..I should not have to say this but I will..I can swear on my own little boy's life I have no other login names and I have not one specific agenda. PH is a source of great knowledge and wealth to many and so it should be when people want advice on where to go and potential pitfalls especially when we are talking the sums of money involved and at the end of the day they can make up their own judgement.

I fully appreciate that PH has a duty to make sure stuff is not taken out of context and just general rubvbishing goes on but I also think there is a duty to protect individuals too.

No, PH (Haymarket) has a duty to protect itself from litigation.

Writing about one's own experience is one thing but writing about events of a third party or best friend is something else. At best it is gossip. At worst it's malicious gossip.

I dont see it makes a difference if its your Dad, dog or sister or best mate...my Father is in his 80's if I posted on any forum anywhere about a bad experience in a hotel, car dealer or anywhere else that makes it malicious does it?...

I can completely understand the name and shame rules but it seems to me the thread about
the bad experience at a Porsche specialist did not name and shame.

The thread was closed just as it was becoming extremely useful for Porsche owners
with Imi's and others experiences being discussed.

thanks mate...that was all it was ever supposed to be about. I can happily put on here that personal dealings with OPC Leeds, JZM , 9e and HP Motorsport have all been great and good luck to all of those guys.

Unless you have categoric proof this is a really silly thing to accuse a member of. Personally I think Ben is genuine. He has even PM'd me in the past asking me not to mention who the dealer in question is and also to remove a post I made which was fairly innocuous as I mentioned the dealer specialised in a certain type of Porsche which they might be associated with. Someone who's not straight would not have done this and this was well before mods shut the thread down. The mods on here can easily suss out if Fakko, Berty etc are the same IP address and would block his IP address as multiple accounts are not allowed on PH. Just be sensible and play nice guys. There's so many keyboard warriors on here. Think before you put stupid posts up and this applies to everyone inc me.

Thanks Imran. Without the group 'hug' what happened to you with your 997 Turbo is testament to not only an individual's perseverance especially when coming up against a huge company like Porsche AG but to the huge credit of PH moderators who allowed a thread to go on which did not put Porsche's treatment of a loyal customer in a very good light at all.
