Just in the process of buying negotiating a purchase of a C4s Cab that supposedly has the Sports exhaust option. Have yet to see the vehicle in person as it is a fair diatance away but on the pics it shows the exhaust as being a kind of twin pipe either side of the car as opposed to the regular single oval kind of look. Is that right, or has the vehicle simply got the stainless pipes as opposed to sports exhaust?

Cheers

Mine has the Sports exhaust option and it's just an oval pipe. Don't know if it was available with twin ovals

There is a "Twin pipe look" Stainless Steel exhaust tip option which is merely cosmetic. Obviously you are right not to want to confuse this with a sports exhaust. I think the factory sports exhaust is switchable and comes with a switch on the dashboard, can someone confirm that this is correct for all model year 996 C4Ss?

The Porsche config' system says the twin pipes are not available with the PSE......looks like the dealer may have his wires crossed. Tried to ring today but they were closed!

Will chase them tomorrow to make sure......could be a costly mistake to make! Am I right in thinking the PSE with switch will be somewhere in the region of £1800? Has anyone got any idea as to the "actual" cost to the dealer of the system?

Saw the original sales invoice for my 02 Carrera which i just bought recently and the sports exhaust was a £1700.00 option.

Mine has the normal exhaust pipes, not the split into two each side. Never seen a Car with the sports exhaust option that has any different finishers.

It is a must in my mind to have this fitted, it sounds superb.

On my invoice "sports exhaust" is £988-00 + vat, mines a cab 4 s with power kit ( 345 bhp) same torque just a more linear power band and sounds mean.

ps. also stated by Porsche in price book :"cannot ( sports exhaust) be used in conjuction with stainless steel tailpipes X54"

X54 = dual-tube tailpipes ( four pipe look )

I hope this helps.

Went to my local dealer and got a print out of the "build spec". It specifically says sports exhaust system with the option code XLF.

So everything appears to be correct except for the tail pipe design. The technician there seems to think that despite what Porsche says, the tailpipes are simply cosmetic and can be changed. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for all the replies.....greatly appreciated.

Would love the Performance kit as well but very expensive option! Would have hoped the sports exhaust would have come with it.

Won't be needing it!

Will be needing it!

I just picked up my 06/2003 C4S coupe from Bavaria and must agree to common opinion that sport exhaust system is a must for 911!!!! It's freaking awesome!!!!
