Maybe it's the 'low mileage' rolleyes

Nice car, but half that price or half that mileage and then it's a bit more interesting.

It looks a cracker. Have to be honest I personally think a finely fettled 3.2C like this one knocks the spots off any 911 after it for a pure unadulterated driving experience. Club Sports even more so but I know of 80k mile Club Sports changing hands recently for £100k. Good honest rust free cars few and far between. If I had to pick one 911 it would be one of these. Although less torquey my 3.2C easily feels as quick as my 964 C2. PAS, ABS etc all add weight and kill the original 911 DNA/experience.

I'm sure both of these cars are fantastic, but I can't help but feel they've missed the summer madness and we've seen the market cool slightly.

Price wise these are both in new territory for restored standard 3.2 Carrera (with mint un-restored 41k mile cars going for £50k).

They don't currently work as an investment due to the high miles (although that will change over time as other cars put on more miles) and using them would also see a massive loss in value.

But if someone wants to buy a car to drive and money is no object then both would hit the spot!

Both are looney prices, however the Paul Stephens one is a total rebuild and is effectively factory fresh with delivery miles.

They're both effectively complete rebuilds. The black 3.2 belongs to Nick Moss @ Early 911.

Paul Stephens car just has an extra 20% £20k PS tax! biggrin

Shame Nick only did a top end on his. Nick Fulljames rebuilt my 3.2 at exactly the same mileage and while we planned a top end only we ended up going the whole hog with new bearings, barrels and pistons due to wear. And it had been very well maintained. For that money, and at that mileage I would want full engine and box rebuild.
Nick has excellent reputation though.

Agreed for this price. I'm just about to have my gearbox refreshed/rebuilt and though it will be a lot stronger and have gt3 oil cooling, we are talking in the region of £9k.

It's not 'factory' it's indi and who knows how 'fresh' it is.
It's an old reworked engine.
Also how can you tell from those pics how well it's put together ?

Speak to a few on here that have had 1st experience of these cars.
All that glitters and all that.....

Or wait for 'Porscheboxman' to come along shortly in defense of said car and make a proper muppet if himself as he did the other week.
BY George you embarrassed yourself again :-0

I not sure either price is defendable regardless of how rebuilt/fresh it is or who did it. I'll stick with my 997 which is falling in value faster than a fat man jumping out of a plane smile but at least I have no issues in using it in the English sunshine and on a weekly basis.

If you want 'factory fresh' you need a Porsche factory restoration - their work is remarkable, and presumably so are the prices.

The state this car had got into was worse, in many ways, than some Cat B/C 'write offs'. It's a rebuild of a car that had deteriorated.

OK, that may be true of many 'classic/collectables' - but IMO the best cars are in original, low mileage, condition with minimal invasive work. And you can't reverse mileage!

Their quality might be remarkable but there are far better shops out there if you truly care about originality. At least this is the case for the early cars. A Porsche Klassik restored car would not stand a chance at something like a PCA concours. Even Porsche family members themselves "outsource" their klassik car restorations to american firms where it matters. (i.e. Hans Peter Porsche's Gmünd car for pebble)

Why americans seem to care so much more about originality than the european/german collectors puzzles me. I.e. early911sregsitry.org - rail on them for being over the top all you want but they are doing an exceptional job at documenting knowledge about these old cars.

How did i digress from a 60000 gbp carrera 3.2 to early911sregistry.org...? I don't know, but I guess I have come full circle. laugh

I assume that you would buy these cars for investment purposes only? Surely if you were to use them as intended the value would plummet?
