PCM1 - Handsfree calls??

I have the PCM1 system on my recently purchased 996 and have worked out most of the functions apart from the phone system (I am waiting for the dealer to send me the PCM instruction book)

The car has the handset fitted. I have worked out how to make calls but cannot work out the handsfree system. When the call is answered I can hear the person on the end of the line through the speaker system but they cannot hear me unless I pick the handset up.

Any ideas/instructions/advice.

the handsfree operation is automatic. if someone calls you in the car , you press the button with phone symbol on it ( top right) and you are connected, you should hear them and they should hear you. I'd try disconnecting the jack on the ( optional) handset to see if that makes a difference... but that should not be necessary.
