I am getting a subscription to a Porsche magazine for Xmas, my mum has asked me which one I want?
I currently own a Boxster Spyder and have an interest in 911's and Caymans, not too fussed about other models. Also have an interest in older 911's , 968's and 928's.
Can anyone recommend the best magazine to subscribe too?

You may occasionally
need to sort the wheat from the chaff, but that's part of the fun. 
Add to which five minutes spent on here is more interesting than any Porsche magazine.

I find that certain of the porsche specific mags come across as either porsche advertisements, or adverts for the indys whose cars they are featuring and there seems to be a lack of impartiality. Then there is the question that often only a very small number of articles in the mags interest me. Then the most annoying thing, that after a while you get a sense there is quite a bit of article 'recycling' to create a headline feature to attract the casual buyer in whsmith, e.g. 996 buyers guide, 996 bargain porsche?, 996 the first water-cooled, 996 vs 993, 993 vs 996, etc etc etc. I guess they would argue they run to small budgets etc and have to be careful using the porsche name and all that, but thats why i don't subscribe, best thing, have a read in whsmith and see if there is anything interesting, if not put it back. Have tried many both in German and in English. http://www.gtpurelyporsche.com/ is my preferred choice

Totally agree with all of that. I find myself putting the mag back on the shelf more and more.They need to reinvent themselves.
Quit with the cliches.
Improve the quality of the writing tenfold. I could do it! God I miss LJK Setright.
Include a DVD
Try and be more subtle with the your advertising. Who else HATES those Malton plates?
Do something different! Really different!
Come up with an exciting series that makes the reader crave the next issue!

I agree, I subscribed both to this and GTPurely Porsche for years. The latter became a series of glorified adverts for Specialist Cars of Malton and the 911 & Porsche World just seemed to rehash old material.I just pick up an occasional copy in WHS nowadays. I think the OP would be better off asking for an Evo sub.

Good points: I think their buyers guides are good and they are pretty good in covering the full range (although never seen a CGT article of any length. Some interesting owners stories - could do with more though.
Bad: Wish they had more 'tried and tested' - used to be 4 now down to 2 cars . Absolutely hate the blasted planted features - how many write ups of HWM? Loads of indys out there that reviews of would be helpful but they seem to focus on same (paid) ones which is annoying. However I like the fact that all models are covered which some of the other mag don't do.
