911 Satnav

Just how desirable in a 997.1 or 997.2 is the Satnav option these days? Can it manage full UK postcodes? If it can't from new, can it be upgraded? If so, how much? How much do map updates cost?

My thoughts are that new app systems with traffic information are far better but I welcome your thoughts

It's no TomTom, but I find the satnav in the 997.2 just fine. The latest update brought full postcode search too.

Wouldn't affect my choice of a car to buy though. In fact I might prefer to go without since it will only become out of date over time.

Indeed! See my 996.2 satnav with lovely double-DIN tape playing head unit and separate single DIN size disc drive for the satnav. I'm nto sure it actually looks as good as my Dad's old TomTom from around the same year.

It's hard to buy a Gen 2 997 without satnav.

That's a Gen 1.

You could get better advice by asking about GT3 specifically, as it's not the same as a cooking Carrera.

On that GT3, I would say the seats, brakes and Approved warranty would wipe out any concerns about built in sat nav.

On a Gen1, I think the console looks better without the satnav as the gen1 satnav has tonnes of button like a 1980s equalizer.

For the gen 1 and 2 Satnav systems, what updates are available? Full postcode? New maps? Are traffic reports available? Thanks
