What are the recommendations to protect our precious toys against the elements (assuming that it will be used throughout the winter)

They are pretty robust to start with. Good, regular washing and if been used in the salt, I power wash underneath as well.

I just drive it. If you have time for a wash and decent wax, then that may help.
