Guys - help!!

Colleague of mine fancies either boxster or 911 cab.
(so far so good!)

Prefers boxster and has driven an S, but fancies more power.

[uh oh!]

However preferring the handling of the Boxster to the 911 and not needing an engine balanced on the rear numberplate he's bugging me as to whether I know a place that will provide significant power increases for the boxster S? (looking at getting over 300bhp...)

I know DMS can crank up various German cars can they or anyone else provide serious gains for the Boxster S?

Thanks for your help.

As a warning, cranking power up on non-turbo cars tends to be a lot more £'s per bhp gained.

Since your mate does not currently own a Boxster S can I suggest one of two paths.

1) Buy a brand new Boxster S with 280bhp from Porsche with a warranty and no shit for two years.

2) Buy a RUF manufactured car from RUF with silly levels of power and appropriate upgrades to the structural integrity of the vehicle

I am considering whether or not when my car reaches four or so whether or not I might get a power upgrade. If I go down this route I would want the car "re-manufactured" by someone like Ruf or Gemballa to ensure that its stunning performance wasn't matched by shortened longevity...

Still worthy of discussion... Although I am thinking of trading the Boxster in for a Noble, one other idea was to spend the £15K on the Boxster to make it seriously quick. Not too worried about values as work will pay for it through the vehicle allowance scheme

Mine's only a 2.5 though. Worthwhile?

Possibly more worthwhile than on a 3.2S like mine. The car won't be worth a penny more after you've spent the £15K either - but it will certainly go well! I believe Ruf can install a 993 engine (a 3400S) and by now a 996 engine too (3600S) which should be seriously quick. And then of course one can do what Ruf do to the 996 engine.

You should be able to do 380 - 400 bhp no bother at all IIRC. But you'll want Ruf chassis strengthening - whatever that is and certainly a big brake upgrade (to at least S spec) with new alloys to take the discs and callipers.

Goodbye AT LEAST £15K I'd have thought...

But WHAT a car.... Surely what Porsche should be offering anyway... Except they would probably never sell another 911 derivative

Cheers chaps.
Suffice to say I've already pointed out to him the merits of the S chassis and the fact that you don't actually need any more power to have a devastatingly quick point to point road car.

Perhaps the best suggestion is a new S with 280bhp, that should scratch his itch and give him peace of mind at least!

Personally if I could find a ruf 3400S secondhand I'd be most interested - it would be a great change from my 3200GT for the summer, but the low number of cars made means that I doubt I'll ever see one, let alone find one for sale!!
