2015 Cayenne GTS review, pics & sound

Well a very brief review..

So collected today and only driven briefly, but very impressed so far. The drive is good as you would expect and it goes very well in sports plus mode - although I can't red line it just yet...

Very impressed with the exhaust note and general sound - definitely sounds like a sports car when under load and the handling has been good so far. Only got out in the dark, so tomorrow I'll get some daytime driving in. The tiptronic s gearbox is very good - feels better in this than the PDK did in my Macan

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between the GTS and a Turbo? Is it a V8 naturally aspirated instead?

Yes, liking that a lot and due to test drive one this Sat afternoon.

Could I ask if you added other options, and which ones?

It used to be that that the Panny and Cayenne GTS was N/A 4.x Litre V8.

Now the Cayenne GTS has a Turbo Charged 3.6 V6 (440HP) and the Turbo has a Turbo Charged 4.8 V8 (520HP)
Panny GTS still keeps the N/A 4.8 V8 for 440HP

I went for the handling options, so air suspension, PDCC and PTV+ as the main ones, other options include Bose, satnav, panoramic roof, the GTS interior pack along with red gauge and seat belts, oh and the alcantara wheel as it's not standard. Another item of real use is the cargo system which keeps your shopping and other items in place in the boot

Can you explain your thoughts a bit more regarding the tip in the GTS over the PDK in the Macan.

I tested a cayenne 3.0D b2b with my Macan 3.0 PDK and hated the whirring/whining tip.

Porsche Portsmouth was the best buying experience I've had, everyone was just excellent. I don't think I ever cleaned my 991 myself, every time I went near the place they washed it for me! I suppose you get what you pay for...

Haha, yes Chris told me you had seen this post. I also agree with him and think you should buy a CSL so he can drive it

I've told him that I'll invite him along to the next Trackday I do and he should also get himself over to the Nurburgring soon - maybe a father/ son trip this year?? I'll be there a few times

I tested a cayenne 3.0D b2b with my Macan 3.0 PDK and hated the whirring/whining tip.

Whilst the PDK Is ultra quick and smooth in gear changes, it was quite jolty sometimes in 2nd gear or when changing to 2nd and it almost seems wasted on a diesel SUV. The paddles are a waste of time on that car - whilst they work really well - you can't hear or feel the engine, so don't know when to change gear and too easy to hit the circa 5k rpm diesel redline.

Whereas the tiptronic s just seems suited to the SUV drive. I feel it is ultimately smoother with a heavier car. With the GTS and the sports exhaust, it works well with the paddles - it's much more rewarding to use them than it was on the Macan diesel. They are also very responsive and change gear when you expect - no unexpected delays as you might find with a C63 auto box.

I obviously can't comment on the idea of the Cayenne GTS with the PDK Box as that's not an option, but I'm more impressed with the auto in the cayenne than I was the PDk in the macan.

I'm also not a massive fan of PDK a in general - having experienced it in a 991, Cayman, Panamera and Macan - it is not a patch on the DCT box from an E92 M3.
