8 owners affect price of a cars price
Discussion
Depends on the car doesn't it? GT3, GT3 RS or something exotic is valued far more on condition than number of owners I would have thought. If it's a "regular" car then it could (and I stress could) be a sign that there is an underlying problem and so is being sold relatively cheap to move it on to the next punter
Get it checked out if in any doubt and then make up your own mind as to whether the price is realistic or not

For an 'ordinary car' it depends on how long the owners had the vehicles and how they were sold on? If each time they were sold and had a PPI with the work done with the history of that then with some arm twisting maybe the same as a similar condition one owner. But surely when it gets to the sought after stuff, my car was previously owned from new by Mr ? with a few pictures and all the history, tax discs etc it is worth more just for the story.
It's a tricky one and, depends on lots of factors.
In years gone by, there may have been a suggestion that there was something wrong with the car with numerous owners, so it was quickly off loaded. Or, a really good example would be held onto.
Nowadays, cars tend to change hands more frequently, but I'd still like to see an average ownership span of 2-3 years, with a good history with each owner and a record of each point of sale.

I've heard from a few reputable indys that porsches tend to have higher owners than most as many want to live the dream for a little while, so not necessarily an indication of an underlying problem.
If its 3 or 4 years old, then that would seem real high.
I was the 5th owner of a 5 year old 996 and kept it 4 years without issue.

1 owner vehicle or 8 owners how does it affect the value
On a 1 year old car quite a lot on a 12 year old car not at all. I personally would NOT buy a 8 owner car even at 12 years old but that's just me.
If it makes no difference at all why would you not buy it?!

Brilliant bit of self-contradiction there!

8 owners on a 12 year old car will not affect the price.
I would not buy a 8 owner car, no self-contradiction at all.
it's never about price when I buy a car, it has to do with many factors one of them for me is amount of owners.
Performance cars/coupes/2seaters tend to get through more owners generally. Peoples needs and circumstances change and such cars as Porsches tend to be able to accommodate such changes in circumstance (eg Longer work commute, children appearing, reduction in financial circumstance etc) less easily than most cars. There is no reason to be worried regards a few owners on the V5. I would definitely not assume a car is a lemon just because of numerous owners. I have kept performance cars for as little as 3 months on occasion. The reasons I sold have never been to do with the car itself. All it takes is a few people with similar changing circumstances consecutively buying the car. However, there is a caveat. The more owners the more chance that one, or more, of those owners has not driven the car sympathetically from cold etc.

Market prices are determined by what buyers are prepared to pay. If 8 owners would take people like you out of the group of potential buyers then that means a car with that many owners has less interest, so needs to be at a lower price to entice someone to buy it.8 owners on a 12 year old car will not affect the price.

From a personal perspective I'm firmly of the opinion that the number of owners is little more than a number on a piece of paper (the V5C) kept in a kitchen drawer and doesn't affect my enjoyment of a car one way or the other (providing the car itself is good of course), but I do realise that it's easier to find buyers for cars with a lower number of owners, which in turn means an affect on values. Your post demonstrates that quite well I think, hence I find it difficult to see it as anything other than a contradiction when you state that some people (yourself included) would be put off buying but that it makes no difference on values - the two do not compute I'm afraid.

Condition/History
All that matters.
I was 9th owner of my old GT3 sold the car no problem.
I was the 3rd owner of my GT2 harder to sell.
I now have a 7 owner Turbo doesn't bother me in the slightest as long as the history is there and all the boxes are ticked condition wise.
Yeah, but to flip it, if someone were to ask how many 911's an owner's had and it's in the dozens then maybe you'd be right to think there's something not quite right with him. All that matters.
