Wheel centre caps on eBay - fakes?

I assume they probably are for £20 despite the porsche packaging, just wondered if these were worth faking, and if anyone had bought similar and was quality rubbish?

The 7PP Part number suggests they are for Cayenne (9PA model) but as the hub size is the same they'll fit.

The triangular logo (looks like a stylized P in a triangle) is the genuine Porsche mark; suggesting they are genuine - but if you make a mould from a genuine one to fake then I suppose they will have that.....

Work on the basis that since anything like that can be easily faked that is probably is until you can satisfy yourself otherwise.

to good imo to be fake, and so what if they are, just fit them and forget about it.

No idea about these but I bought a set for the same sort of money from a different seller and they where fake.

That was my thinking too, didn't think about it until I bought them and then saw lots for £100+

£20 and the limited market doesn't seem to warrant the accurately faked boxes.

As long as they don't break or fall off I don't really care TBH.

Just curious of others experience

TBH the BMWDriver's comment has about as much relevance to your original query as the current phase of the moon.

Obviously as usual they are "cheap" so there must be something wrong, says Pistonheads (in a manner of speaking).

Quite frankly, £20 for 4 plastic caps is expensive. You (I) can buy a new branded DVD drive for less than that, to put things into perspective. That Porsche charges whatever they charge over and above that is also irrelevant.

I bought some off eBay for my M3 years ago. The BMW symbol looked like it was carbon fibre so a bit different from the standard version so I bought them, fitted them, drove off and within a 1 mile journey all four had flown out. I then went to BMW, paid for real ones, fitted them, drove off and they stayed in place all the way until I sold the car....

I purchased a set off ebay for my cayenne. To be fair they have stayed put and have not fallen off, but they have bleached in the Portuguese sun, sadly not equally, so one side of the car has multicoloured badges in the centre caps and the ohter side has black, sepia and grey.

Bought a cheap set off eBay for £12 for my winter wheels. Went through 3 winters and looked better than the genuine Porsche ones on my summers at the same age.
Luck of the draw I guess. But you can buy multiple sets for the price of a gen set.

I bought a set from Ebay for my winter wheels. 3 years on still the same as when I bought them.

As said by many others, they are simply plastic discs that fill the holes in the centre of the wheels and get covered in road grime.

Porsche don't actually make them. They buy them from a company that does injection moulding, add a 4000% margin and sell them to you.

Its not rocket science and nobody will get hurt by inexpensive centre caps.

Sounds like its hit and miss then - but still much smarter to buy a few of sets of £20 fakes than the laughable £150 odd that an OPC charges

Just received mine and if they are fakes then they are damned good fakes. I cannot work out how something that is normally extortionately priced can become so cheap - but at £20 for non-safety related bits of bling I am happy.

For what it is worth, they look like a metal shield mounted into the plastic cap - so not the simple etch and paint fakes that I have seen in the past.
