I thought it was, and bought a reconditioned unit which is originally from a 996 3.4.

Then I happened on some info that there is a different p/n for alternators on cars after 2000, something to do with the pulley clutch? I can't get a clear answer on a search and the Porsche PET for 6T lists several - which is why I think it'll be fine.

But would be good to get reassurance before I build it back up. Mine is an early car, '99 registered.

Thanks in advance..

This is on KATALOG.

M249 = auto M480 = manual

A means previous part number presumably as the notes say A means "stock to be used up"

Oh and since copying part numbers and info is so useful but KATALOG is protected... go to http://smallpdf.com/unlock-pdf and unlock it, it works.
