Porsche Scandinavian Roadtrip Thread

I remember reading a few years ago about a member who took his 997 to the continent - I think scandinavia.

Done a quick search, wondered if anyone could find the thread as I'm struggling to find it. Any help appreciated!

No idea about the thread, but some friends and I are going to do the Swedish trip from the recent issue of Total 911 in the spring.

If anyone is interested in joining, they should get in touch. We'll go from Hällefors to Mora via Borlänge, for a weekend.

Took my 997 skiing through Scandinavia last year - previously all over Europe with it.

If you're heading that way I recommend the ferry from Kiel to Olso - great fun.

Norway & Sweden's roads are genuinely good, full snow but well prepared. Our trip took in Geilo, Voss, Hemsedal, Lillehammer, Trysil, Oppdal, Trondheim, Are, Bydalen and another place that escapes me. Oh and we stopped off at Hell on the way but throughout we had no issues with roads or general driving. The tunnels are fun too.

Driving wise, Norway is pretty but slow. 80kph is the limit most places and they have super strict rules with the maximum fine some percentage of your salary. Driving standards are very different to here but snow capability is exemplary. Summer driving is an exercise in restraint and I was told by one chap that they have the most Tesla's per population outside California.

Sweden is more flowing and a little less draconian, it's also cheaper tho you do struggle to always find correct RON fuel. You see some ridiculous cars around too, Lamborghinis on snow tyres anyone? Tthey love their exotica.

Elk kill people in cars. Aside that winter tyres, ski rack and some experience of snow driving/a light right foot is all you need. Got the best mpg ever on the trip and that's with a ski rack!
