Hi,

I am putting a bluetooth kit in my car and wanted to see if anyone has upgraded speakers / the stereo. The sound is pretty poor compared to more modern units.

Any thoughts?

Would also be keen to examine options - I have a 997.2 with Sound Plus (non Bose) and the sound is absolutely awful... Thinking of taking it the crew in Park Royal for options - any ideas?

I've used the company below with a great deal of success, first with an X5 and then my 997 GT2 (I have no affiliations to them at all, just a very pleased customer!)

I used Audiophile Incar too for my 997. Very good service. They did the following:
  • New double din Pioneer bluetooth nav unit
  • JL 5 channel amp in front boot
  • Focal components in front door replacing crappy paper ones (kept Bose subs in door)
  • de-amped the bose subwoofer & drove it from the JL amp instead
  • Put dynamat in frontdoors to improve perfomance
  • Drive rears for fill in from head unit's amp
It sounds about a million times better now than the disgraceful Bose rubbish, but to be honest still not amazing simply due to the size of the cabin in the car.
Cost about £2.5k

Nice one Jake... Mine was a bit more expensive but gives you an idea of what is possible. That said people like Auto Audio can work to your budget - Bose and Porsche's other stereos are awful and your ears deserve better!

Agree with that bro... you don't realise how bad Bose is till you rip it out & burn it!
The best system I've had to date was in my Golf GTi, wasn't hugely expensive but there was the space & air in the car to fit what I really wanted.

My friend just spent £7k at Auto Audio on his SL55, put in Morel speakers, custom sub etc, like your system, sounds amazing, not that he can tell, using Spotify over 4G FFS!!!
