After three months waiting for the steering wheel to come back from re trimming finally got my DIY paddle shift wheel fitted!
Just taken it round the block for a quick spin to make sure it works and all is ok - going to take it for a proper spin later but looks and feels better than the tip buttons already!
Special thanks to Ricola, very useful link (see below) and a helpful chap!

All in costs were around 450:
Steering wheel 150 (purchased a manual one)
Mercedes AMG paddles 120
Steering wheel re trim 175

for faster shifting you cuuld look at the Sprint Booster V3. You need one especially for your model (I think version 166) & set it to auto mode.

Looks a good upgrade

I am looking for this Mod but am electrically illiterate so need some one to do it for me ....... for a price ?

Sprint Booster will not change the shift speed of the gearbox when using the paddles.
It changes the throttle mapping and makes the throttle pedal give a demand to open the throttle a greater amount for the same pedal movement.
A side effect of this is that if the gearbox is in auto mode it seems to switch to a ‘sportier’ mode and change gears at higher rpms. The shift speed remains unchanged.
