997.2 GT3 wheel colour and finish.
Discussion
I've managed to scuff a rear wheel on the low steel upstand of a Eurotunnel carriage!!!
Popped into Porsche to enquire about having it repaired. They said no problem, we have a company we use who strip the wheel back to bare aluminium and then powder coat.
I asked if powder coating was the OEM finish and they didn't directly respond. Only saying they've used them for a few years. Aren't the wheels painted not powder coated from the factory?
Does anyone know the colour code for the standard centre lock wheel?
Thanks.

Doubt he covers Wales, but if he does - seeing the quality of Lepsons I wouldn't let anyone else touch my wheels.Zyp said:
I'm pretty sure they're painted, but not 100%
If those are satin Platinum then Chris / Lepsons will have the code as they did my Spyder wheels.

If they have the code then no probs. OPC Reading uses ""Premier Panel"" for bodywork and alloy repairs, they must have all codes.
The wheels are painted and there were two options - silver or a titanium colour. I believe that most came with the titanium finish and although I have tried both Porsche in the UK and in Germany have been unable to obtain any paint for touching up scuffs etc
A good painter should be able to match the colour for you but if you have the titanium colour and want to touch up any small marks yourself you could try making your own using Porsche Titan Metallic D72 plus a bit of Arctic Silver 92T

Sorry to hear that...amazing how narrow the channel ( or how wide cars have become).. how we all remember every scuffed wheel almost for ever, best plan is to get it fixed soonest so the evidence is no longer there.

I'd assumed it was silver but Chrs thought titanium? Suppose I should check with my OPC. First time I've taken a car on the train. I was very aware about the potential for splitter damage so relieved to be directed to the lower level but hadn't even realised there would be such a narrow track to follow with a steel upstand either side. What an awful design - if it was chamfered it wouldn't have been an issue!
Just ask to be put in with the vehicles over 1.85m, lots of room in those carriages.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
