Bumpy knees..........
Discussion
just changed over to a 98 996 C2, standard car in terms of spec including basic seats with manual hight adjustment. Question is can i lower the seat any more than the existing maximum or/and can i adjust the steering wheel hight as it only adjusts for rake. Hense the bumpy knees. Thanks guys.
Not much can be done with the seats other than taking about 1/2 an inch of cushioning away, this would probably not solve the bumpty knee issue. Your best route forward is to get a smaller rimmed steering wheel from somewhere like techart?

)Hi Brian. You a touching upon a very sensitive issue for drivers who are taller than 6ft. I had to go for a tiptronicS as I could not find a proper place for my left knee when trying the manual, as the knee-room between the steeringwheel and the middle console on a right hand drive car really is very narrow when you are off the clutch. On a left hand manual you do not have the same problem as your left leg has plenty of room resting on the front wheelarch when not operating the clutch.
Has somebody experimented with moving the climate control / center console in order to make more room. I tried a GT3 which had no middle console and there the driving position was much improved.

Brian - I had this problem on the boxster - not because I'm tall, but a fat bstd so big arse + big legs means knees touching the wheel.
I now have a GT3 which is a lot more confortable - mostly because it doesn't have the center console - you cna buy a "GT3 Console Delete kit" for your car which would remove the console and give more space. Mine is also further improved by the racing bucket seats, which are low, but you should be fine with just the console delete kit - see if you can find a car locally with this and try it.

I am 6ft3 run Lhd Turbo2 no probs with my knees,i know it is a left hooker but the power is there for over taking. You change your style a bit when driving lhd but just as good fun.
Pre 996 cars in lhd form are more accomodative to the driver as they don't have the compromised offset pedals found in rhd versions.

I have just acquired a 996 and am well over 6 foot. I asked the dealer to remove the console but its just bare metal behind it. Can anyone tell me where I can get hold of a "GT3 console Delete kit". The porsche dealer had not heard of it!

Click on "interior", then on "P96", then about 1/3 of the way down the page, click on "GT3 console delete package"
