Panamera Hybrid Extras - 7.2kw on board Charger
Discussion
Just ordered a new Pan Hybrid before the Tax breaks and grants go - if you done know about the tax breaks then PM me and I will enlightened you.
I'm trying to tie down the spec before it gets locked - the dealers are rubbish though - they just dont know the details.
I've gone for:
20' 911 turbo wheels
Sports Chrono
Sports seats 14 way
Bose
Metallic Colour
Adaptive Cruise
Park assist inc Reversing camera - Mrs
Lane change assist - big blind spots!
7.2 KW on board charger
Does anyone actually know what the the onboard charger is? Is it actually built in? i assume its a charger to allow quicker charging but does it then also require an up graded charging outlet? Does anyone have any information on the chargers, standard with the car in a bag, and the on board - not sure to order it with the car or not? Help would be appreciated ... Simmo

Comes with both uk 3 pin and charging unit in the bag in the boot and the industrial charging point cable ...
To fast charge though it needs an upgraded charging point i think? - no pointing dropping £500+ on a on board charger if it doesnt work any faster - i am having a faster charging point put in at home though, but dont think i need the on board charger to get the faster charge.

Depends on what your definition of fast charge is!
My Leaf has a 3.3kw charger and it's still classed as a fast charger and works on type 2 posts.
If you are only charging it overnight then the standard charger will be fine. The 7.2kw charger is only really handy if you need to charge quickly (around an hour I imagine with the battery on the Panamera)

That does seem odd.
to charge at 7.2kW you'll need a wall mounted charger to plug into, clearly you can't charge at that rate using the supplied 13A lead plugged into a regular socket.
Not sure why being able to charge at 7.2kW is an extra on the car? Maybe the £500 covers the wall mounted charger you'll need?
The government is still heavily subsidising these for orders placed before the end of March I believe. May continue after, but I think there will be an announcement soon either way. Roltec are still offering to install 32A charges for free on the government scheme (installed cost is circa £1k I believe).

The 7.2KW relates to the onboard charger of the car.to charge at 7.2kW you'll need a wall mounted charger to plug into, clearly you can't charge at that rate using the supplied 13A lead plugged into a regular socket.
