Feel through steering, seats

I have a colleague who's buying his first Porsche. He's driven mine and wants a car with similar feel. He can't stretch to a gt3. Wants something he can use as a daily - not huge mileage say 8k pa. Budget 50. He's not averse to an earlier less modern car as long as it has that feel and feedback through the steering.

What's the pecking order in terms of feel? I don't remember my old pre vram 993 being anywhere near as feel some as the gt3. Is this the pinacle or are there hidden gems? Open to boxsters, cayman and 911s

Every owner is probably biased, but my 987.1 Cayman S on 18s and with PASM has a lovely ride/handling/feel balance. Nicer in my experience than the Cayman R and 997.1S that I've tested.

I'd say the 987.1 Cayman S is just about fast enough in standard trim for fast road and occasional track use. Mine is feelsome, and friendly enough to be a daily. It also has the smaller sports steering wheel, sports seats and the Sport Chrono (which definitely sharpens the car up).

I've had mine 9 years and over 80k miles now, and still very much enjoying it.

I think any pre991 (electric steering) 911 will not disappoint, if . . . . the geometry is set up properly.

I had mine set up by 9excellence to something fairly close to "fast road set up" , I.E. pretty much on the limits of the Porsche standard settings. It is in no way twitchy or hard work, but has become a whole lot more responsive & communicative purely through adjustment.

I guess the ultimate in "feel" has got to be a pre964 era 911 without any power steering.
