carrera 3.2 VS porsche 996 3.4 vs Drives in a sagaris
I FEEL COMMITTED TO ADD MY 15 YEARS OF PORSCHE OWNERSHIP TO THE DEBATE- ALSO A QUIET MORNING WHICH IS UNUSUAL - sorry i am a porsche fan but i love all fast cars !!!!! with character
I HAVE A 996 3.4 CARRERA AND I ALSO OWN AN 84 CARRERA 3.2
this is a real life comparison - they are both fantastic cars in their own right, i ABSOLUTELY adore the look of the 3.2 without the whailtail, mine is coupe in black - stunning - it must be said the 3.2 is by no means a modern car- but thats the joy really ! its easy to live with and can be driven when ever i fancy !!!
it handles beautifully and is reasonably quick !!! no supercar though!
Here's the rub - i went out in a TVR sagaris - yes it beautiful and faster than the 996, however the 996 gets such bad press and i do not understand why, its one of the most accessible race cars on the planet for driving quickly, i have owned this for nearly 10 years, and everytime i drive it like this morning in the rain, even after coming out of a sagaris, there is just something pure in the 996, i have a sport exhaust and sports suspension which helps!!
this 996 does not get the credit it deserves and due to over supply and poorly maintained cars these cars get a bad reputation, porsche owners who understand cars know that engines need to be fully warmed up and that coolant is vitally topped up when needed- so if this is done - there is no problem with the engines
even though i own one of the most iconic classics, i still hanker to drive the 996 - credit where credit is due
SO THERE WE ARE - A REAL LIFE COMPARISON - BACK TO BACK AND PS there both great in their own ways!!

996 is a superb car very capable quick in all weathers
Watch this space re the values. Will only go one way.
What people tend to forget when it was launched in the 90's it was a vast improvement on its predecessor the 993, all the neutrals loved it, it was just the air heads that didn't pardon the pun, sure it was made to a budget like all most modern manufacturing. This and the boxter saved Porsche from extinction.
Buy a nice 3.4 C2 now with ambers, good investment IMO especially if it's had the harteck conversion
