Nurburgring Insurance

Moris used to do cover for TF days but not sure if they still do. http://www.moris.co.uk/
My recommendation would be to drive it like you are making progress on a country road, so drive to your ability and conditions then it's unlikely anything will go wrong. Also try and go in the week if you can as it will usually be quieter.
Renting a car to drive round will still leave you with a HUGE excess if you were to crash.

pretty sure whatever it says in the schedule, they are legally obliged under European law to cover you on a third party basis anyway - trouble is they will then attempt to sue you for their costs incurred in honouring said third party costs, as you in breach of the contract between yourself and the insurance co. either way, basically you need to consider your uninsured and go carefully (says a man who'll shortly be forgetting all that and spanking his 996 GT3 RS on a TF Sunday) if at all.

Correct, but while they are obliged to cover you, they will come looking for anything they pay out on your behalf, it could bankruupt you.majordad said:

In 2014, there was a European Court of Justice decision which has far-reaching implications for the European motor insurance industry. It is very likely that the Road Traffic Act 1988 will be amended. In the meantime, a UK driver is far less likely to be forced to repay a compulsory payment made by his insurer.
This is not a green light for UK Nurburgring drivers to go nuts on the track once more, but it is certainly a very positive development. Not worth the risk of solely depending on your insurance and hoping for the best.
Last year, I insured through rent4ring The excess was huge, but at least my liability was limited. Iirc CCI and classic gave me a quote. Not cheap, but if take someone out and part of the track, the bill will run into the hundreds of thousands.
If you do decide to go, treat it like a fast country road. Stay on the right even when going round the corners, to let fast traffic pass on the left. In my experience They will overtake in the braking zones and corners!

I like a brazen attitude, but I have to say if you can't afford to crash on the ring without insurance then don't drive it.
This is why I've yet to take my Porsche the the ring, on the other hand a £5k hot hatch is disposable and with no fear of financial worry, a lot more enjoyable. If I wrote that off I'd just leave it there and get a lift home.

While a £5k hatch is not the end of the world, if other people slip on your fluids, if there's injuries with an air ambulance, you're still liable! As has been said, this could (and has) result in a 6 figure bill and possible prosecution!
Just drive steady, always keep an eye on your mirrors...

While that is very true my main point and concern is the initial first party losses, but yes I agree.
Indeed, there's been plenty of times I've overtaken 911s at the Ring, either due to them being first timers or they had one eye on the potential bill...

Went there with a group 3 weeks. I hired with rent4ring and took the ins waiver, 249 EUR which dropped excess to 2500 EUR and covered Armaco and recovery etc. Some chaps I was with rented from RSR who don't do this and have massive excess. They took out an excess reduction policy with moris in the UK.
By the way, the swifts by r4r were epic. In stark contrast to others, they are properly prepared as track cars. The brakes, tyres, suspension, seats, cage all make for a confidence inspiring car you can drive the nuts off. Underpowered certainly in places, but as a tool to learn the track on your first time I thought they were great. And they have a rh drive one. Nice people too.

I had a prang there in wife's car. Thankfully just my own damage so £80 or so for 30 marshalls labour. Did have to get a big loan though to replace her car.
I'd advise against going unless you can get a German registered and insured car, hire a car or FC insurance.
The thousands of pounds you could get charges for track damage is a drop in the ocean compared to how much you could have to pay if you injure someone.

Not cheap, but Insuremytrackday should cover it. I used them last year, there's a 10% excess on the premium.
They also offer Armco insurance, if you hit the Armco, you get billed for the damage which can be pricey (as well as the damage to your car). I went last year and there were two brit cars trashed within an hour. One of the marshals said on a dry day they have around 15 crashes.
You can drive as carefully as you like, but it may not be your driving that gets you into trouble, the track gets very busy.
