We are looking to change our second car later this year, it is only used at weekends most time. My man thinking is I could double this up with a toy as well. SWMBO hasnt shot the idea down just yet but did say it must have 4 seats like the 911 we had 6 years ago before young family made it difficult, RESULT !!!!
She would love a air cooled but I think even pushing it to £25k we would struggle for a decent easy ownership experiance. I am thinking 996 C4S tip (we both like auto's)
Am I missing an other options?

You could get a nice 928 S4 for less and keep the rest for keeping it running. Plus, it should not depreciate.. I am looking at a C4S at the moment and £20k would get you a nice Tip..

Nothing much wrong with a 996 Carrera 2, either.

Try them all; it's the only way to know.

I did have a early 3.4 996 back in the day and it was a great car, just cant help but think the 996 C4S is near it bottom price.

Seriously, I personally prefer my 996.2 C2 to my 996TT.

Try them all and have fun doing it.
