Give me a clue -
Just had alternator replaced on my 2005 997 3.8S to cure the dreaded sluggish warm start problem and have been advised to change the battery also ( although dealer I bought from 3 moths ago had already replaced it with a Bosch 12v )
Dealer claims current battery doesn't possess the correct ampage ? - personally thought a 12v battery was a 12v battery !
Any advice appreciated -ie what do I need and where do I get one - didn't really want to go with Porsche battery at £270 + vat

I put a Bosch S5 in mine, bought it from Euro car parts, was £120ish... Haven't had an issue now in a couple years with it.

More amps mean better cranking esp in cold weather..

I've got a Bosch S5 in mine. Was just under a ton delivered.

I'd stick with the battery that is there already. I'd say you will be fine, even if less ideal than the recommended, which is just a recommendation after all. When it fails, then buy a new battery.

I had a cheapo Bosch one.

That slow cranking is the cable usually, did they change that?

Thanks for all the advice..... Much appreciated. Did 100 plus miles today with new alternator.....many successful warm re starts although cranking still relatively slow....

Porsche Byfleet checked resistance of battery to alternator cable and found it to be ok 👍
