I have had a front near side differential bearing break up on my 996 Carrera 4S (2004 MY). Easy way is to ask the garage to fit a recon diff, but they are seriously wallet trashing expensive from Porsche and that before fitting and VAT. Has anyone found a better way to repair? Not too much information at this stage as nothing has been stripped and I do not yet know what else may have been damaged by the broken up bearing debris.

Any second hand diffs for sale in good condition?

All advice and recommendations gratefully received. Car is in Devon.

The only real way to find out what you need is to take the thing out and have a good look.

In the meantime, your best bet would be to contact a couple of diff / gearbox reconditioners, they may have experience of this particular diff and will be able to give you a good idea.
