Is it a Gen 1 or Gen 2? Gen 1, fundamentally the same as 996. Gen 2, totally different engine. Don't know if the gearbox was carried over.
Your best bet is to ask someone like Paul or Ray at Northway Porsche, they know their onions on these motors, and are very easy to talk to. Barry at Hartech Ltd is another really amiable chap, and considered an authority on these drive trains.
There's also a lot of very knowledgeable people on here, so I'm surprised you haven't had a reply from some of them.
