Leather re-trimmer
Discussion
Anyone had interior trim of their Porsche trimmed or re-trimmed in leather?
I have a 997 and want to cover the plastic rear centre console in leather with the matching stitching (per the OEM option).
- Replacement parts from Porsche were a laughable price, about £2k fitted
- design911 used to offer a service at reasonable prices, but not anymore
- 9excellence said they could help and used a company on the continent, but I gave up on an unresponsive Ken (more interested in large budget mega-power conversions I am sure)
Does anyone know of someone who offers this service at a reasonable cost?
thanks

Hi Adam
I know what you mean it winds me up a bit too the plastic console. I swapped out my old plastic one in my 997 Turbo for a carbon one and i have just bought a 997 GTS with it so i will want it done too...I have never had work done by these guys so I cant comment on the job but they seem to know what they doing..

Let me know either way how you get on as I will do my centre console in either leather or alcantara in the near future.

thanks all, wish some of these guys would tag better with Google, ,been trying for ages to find a place and none of these 3 came up
I am down south so going to try Design LS as they are in Surrey
Berty - will let you know how I get on, going to do leather centre console and lid cover - with stitching, plus crest on lid cover, looking at about £700 inc vat which is roughly what I was happy to pay. This is based on them removing original parts, trimming and re-fitting

Seen some great jobs on VW's when I had 3 x Corrado VR6's (not all at one) :-)
Link above is the work on a F355

Hi Adam, I will second Berty's recommendation. I have just had my console lid re-trimmed in leather by Linus of DesignLS. He is great to deal with, does a brilliant job, and turned my job around in one week.
I also got him to emboss the Porsche crest onto mine, like the ones Suncoast sell in the US but at a fraction of the price.

Feel free to mention my name - Tim - if you call him.
Here is what he did for me:

Hi Adam. Let me know how you get on as that price sounds okay. I'm keen to get rid of the plastic on the centre console of my 997tt. Personally I'm not sure about the embossed Porsche badge on the lid, as mine already has embossed seats so it might look a bit too fussy. I think the "turbo" script would look better. How much did he charge if you dont mind me asking? I also got him to emboss the Porsche crest onto mine, like the ones Suncoast sell in the US but at a fraction of the price.

Car was dropped off on Saturday with Linas, nice guy and he had the console and lid off in 40 mins or so while I grabbed a full English breakfast and watched the planes. Will post the after pictures next week after I have the new leather bits refitted on Saturday.

Look forward to seeing the pictures. So how does it work? I'm assuming you don't need to leave the car? Does he just remove the whole console and you drive around without it for a week?
I'd be keen to get this done, but as I live nowhere near I need to work out the logistics...
Cheers Paul
