Well chaps, after the disappointment of GT4 allocation - This is what I amuse myself with!

Needs a good clean after returning from Renault recommissioning.

The odo now reads a heady 685 miles! I absolutely LOVE IT!

1 of 8 Phase 1s in this colour and possibly the most original car left!?

Nice, a mate of mine has a series 2 version, same colour by the looks of it. I had an R5 Turbo 2 back in 1983/4, great fun

Nothing too exciting... I could have taken it to a V6 'specialist' Indy but with the service book having no stamps in it (had never been serviced with the low mileage - was delivered to me on a low-loader) I thought it best it went back to a Renault Main Dealer. Although more expensive and possibly less experienced with these, they could put a dealer stamp in the book.

I've been shaking it down today after a new cambelt, tensioners, water pump, aux belt, engine oil, gearbox oil, power steering fluid, brake fluid, coolant etc. All rubber parts were in good condition (it drives like a new car, which isn't a big surprise) though it will be getting new boots.

It makes a seriously nice noise when you have dialed in a few revs. Although it's not the quickest car in the world (they're heavy) it really does have a sense of occasion. This is No. 002, which is pretty cool and I am the second owner. Although the press would have you believe they are trying to kill you every time you turn the wheel - I have no problems at all.

It looked so good on the 8 Phase 1s they made in that colour that it was the most ordered colour for Phase 2.

I had a phase 2 in that colour which had been covered with Fuzzy Brush livery (the owner owned the company, the chewable toothbrushes you see in service station vending machines). Cool cars.

It really is a lot of 'fun'... I imagine the driving experience isn't so different to an older 911.

I've only ever driven 996s on though!

Had to pick my mate up from St Pancras last night but had to take Mrs9's Fiat 500 as I wasn't sure we'd get his carry-on in the V6!
