Its not that difficult one you get your head around it. If you can navigate this forum then Twitter will be a walk in the park

Can someone please explain what twitter is all about apart from 'look at me, look at me' which pretty much sums it up from what I've seen
It can be used for that, but I see it as a networking tool.
LinkedIn is a very good networking tool, if you like that type of thing it seems a lot more professional than a text messaging site frequented by attention seakers?

It's really good if you're interested in certain industry sectors, or things. For example, I follow a lot of security researchers. Twitter is often the fastest way to get updates on new vulnerabilities or tools etc. LinkedIn is not set up for that kind of thing.
Also good for musicians - I'm not on facebook - so following the ones that are on twitter that I like is handy for release info.
You can also follow the sleb crowd if you wish ofc. That's not my bag.

te is posted, pictures at Ascot or whatever..........who gives a f
k of you are there or flying Upper Class or whatever. If I feel the need to brag or share a moment I'll call my mate first, if he's not about I'll text - it just seems so classless to me - oh and by the way I'm flying Upper Class to Dubai on Tuesday, where do I post this irrelevant piece of info that is really only important to..............me?Facebook isn't any better - a couple of mums at the local school seem to thrive on posting pictures of themselves pole dancing or getting pissed in the pub and letting everyone know they've just shown their knickers (or knockers) and I just don't get it. Why would you do that?
Being 52 obviously has its downsides and I'm obviously turning into a grumpy old git

Obviously I'm a Luddite
I just can't see how anyone has the time during the working day to either Twitter or Facebook. I use neither though I am on Linkedin.
Maybe I'm just very bad at time management.
It depends on what kind of work you are in. Office based work naturally creates the opportunities for web browsing and that sort of thing and productivity can fall which is why many offices have banned these sorts of websites. On the other hand if you are working in a factory, doing manual labour etc you won't be on the phone or on a computer to check this sort of thing.I just can't see how anyone has the time during the working day to either Twitter or Facebook. For what it's worth, I like to use my Twitter site to update and inform existing and any new and potential customers of our services.
This is my site, not the last word in professionalism but at least the name is out there!

Twitter is actually a great real time news source.
It's good for understanding different sides of a subject.
Choose a subject and see what comes up.
This too - watching , for example, the Arab Spring in real time as it unfolded, while the news channels just had the same thing on a loop. You could follow many sides of it too. It's good for understanding different sides of a subject.
