Silverstone Track Car Choice

So I'm planning to head to Silverstone early August for my first track day there, and luckily have a choice of 3 fairly decent cars, decent for an amateur like me anyway.
Just wondering what the general thoughts were on which car might be best suited to provide the most enjoyment on the GP circuit, or any first hand experiences of the cars in question ??

My own thoughts :

1. 968CS M30 - Have only really pushed it on the small PEC circuit, and although not hugely fast it felt great on the smooth track, really enjoyable to push to the limits.



2. Boxster Spyder - Never had it on track, feels really good on the road, of course wrong spec with PDK and Turbo wheels but I'm sure it could still be good fun, and probably the fastest of the three ??



3. Mini GP - Had it on track at Monza and Mugello, predictable and pretty good fun, probably just a bit faster than the 968.



I think I'll be going Porsche and leaning towards the Spyder I think due to the useful extra speed at Silverstone, and PDK should work really well on the track. Then again the 968 may be more rewarding

First of all - nice garage!

I assume you're doing the International circuit. Spyder sans roof would be my choice assuming dry weather - the more power the better at Silverstone. If it's wet/damp maybe the 968. Somewhere narrow and twisty like Cadwell I would choose the Mini. Good problem to have - why not take a mate along and bring two cars?

All will be fun but honestly the gearing on the 968 or 944 S2 is a PITA around the GP circuit, too many corners where 3rd is too short but 4th bogs the car down. I am a fan of that track but its probably the least enjoyable of the tracks I have driven my 944 S2 race car on, it just feels dog slow on such a big track and you end up with the right foot welded down nearly all the time. Boxster has the longer gears I imagine and a lot more power so will work much better there. 968 will be great around Donny or Castle Combe as the gearing issue is the other way round, gears are perfect for those tracks, you can also really attack some of the corners and have a lot of fun.

Thanks guys good feedback, the Spyder was kind of what I was thinking myself so will go with that. The 2 car idea is nice but can't really manage that one.
Only thing with the Spyder I just remembered is the speed limit with the roof on, I think it's 120 mph but will need to double check that.

Of the 3 I'd go Spyder. I do love that 968CS though - I was admiring it at the last GT Scotland event - looks epic in that colour scheme (it's me who has the green Cayman R and used to work in your local corner shop btw). Enjoy your trip to Silverstone.
